Additional Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity Information

In today's world, yesterday's methods just don't work. In Getting Things Done, veteran coach and management consultant David Allen shares the breakthrough methods for stress-free performance that he has introduced to tens of thousands of people across the country. Allen's premise is simple: our productivity is directly proportional to our ability to relax. Only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve effective productivity and unleash our creative potential. In Getting Things Done Allen shows how to:

€ Apply the "do it, delegate it, defer it, drop it" rule to get your in-box to empty
€ Reassess goals and stay focused in changing situations
€ Plan projects as well as get them unstuck
€ Overcome feelings of confusion, anxiety, and being overwhelmed
€ Feel fine about what you're not doing

From core principles to proven tricks, Getting Things Done can transform the way you work, showing you how to pick up the pace without wearing yourself down.

What Customers Say About Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity:

The writing is a bit preachy, but its OK.The Takeaway: Easy to read, engaging, if a bit pedantic. So do it now.

While it mentions working out your life goals and the bigger parts of being happy, the book excels in how to prioritize and clean put your in-box.Details: Allen clearly describes his system for getting control of all the over-communication we have to deal with in the modern office. He recommends organizing your calendar, task and most importantly your email box in specific ways.

Summary: This book focuses on how to get organized from the ground level up. The time spent remembering and the energy wasted to make sure you don't forget this mini-task adds up to more time than the tasks takes.

I tried his recommendation and I feel that I am just as organized, but more importantly it takes me a lot less effort. He strongly believes that if you can do a small task in under 2 minutes, do it now (unless the next meeting you have starts in 2 minutes).

I think that is the best idea of the book.He hardest thing for me has been balancing his ideas at work, where they have been very successful for me, and at home where there are still lots of things to get done. But I enjoyed it and it has made me more productive and less stressed.

I could not figure out any other way of sharing this information/concern. I selected to have both of the items I ordered shipped together because that's more efficient and environmentally effective. Although, I greatly appreciate you expediting the shipping of one of the items, I would recommend allowing or giving customers the option of combining all orders into the minimum amount of boxes and shipments.I also have never received an order with packaging, but in case you do not use starch-packing peanuts, please consider incorporating them as well.Thank you.(I didn't purchase the selected item)

A lot of simple, useful tips. I've read this book many times and always get a little more depth out of it. Even if you don't use the prescribed system from the book it offers a great deal of insight into organizational challenges.

First, he says to collect every single item or `open loop' in life that commands your attention and is sapping your energy. Is your inbox overflowing and desk growing more and more cluttered. Fifth, go and do it.The rest of the book unpacks these five principles with many helpful step-by-step instructions and examples. Do you feel like your schedule is dictated by the tyranny of the urgent.

He knows that by the time you pick up his book you may already be overwhelmed and on the brink of burnout. Then take the time to read this book. It could literally change your life.Early on, the author gives a five-step process to getting control of your life. Does your life feel disorganized. At first, the workflow chart may resemble an engineering schematic, but it's actually a template of simple ideas that can be adapted to any profession, from stay at home mom to Fortune 500 CEO. Fourth, regularly review the progress you are making and re-negotiate your priorities.

One thing can be said about David Allen: he takes nothing for granted. He doesn't just tell you; he shows you.

Though already a fairly organized person, I found GTD invaluable. Do you tend to put things off until the very last minute.

He is patient and walks you through the entire process. Second, begin to systematically process what each item means and what to do about it.

Third, go deeper by organizing the results. It's like having a personal productivity coach.Probably the most helpful summary of the GTD system is found on page 36, where Allen captures the whole process in graphic form.

I quickly implemented many of Allen's ideas and am already reaping the benefits of a clearer mind and more organized life and ministry.

Just using some of Allen's tips and tricks can prove very useful. I first read Getting Things Done 6 years ago, and the book literally changed my life. I've recommended this book to many clients, most of which are time-deprived owners of emerging enterprises. With the arrival of my second child, I knew my procrastinating ways would cause trouble down the road. One of the best aspects of GTD is that you don't have to use it in full to get something out of it. The only challenge I see with implementing GTD in full, is having 1-2 days to properly setup the system in the first place. Most people, particularly business owners, lack the available time to do it properly.
